Gamdom faces second hack in two weeks as ransom hits $15m
The $15m demand comes days after a separate hot-wallet attack cost Gamdom more than $3m.
The hit
Crypto casino Gamdom is facing a $15m bitcoin ransom demand from cyber-extortion group Whitearmor, which claims to hold records for 15.4 million accounts, according to Bitcoin.com News. The demand surfaced on 26 October, less than two weeks after a separate hot-wallet attack reportedly cost Gamdom more than $3m. Gamdom disputes the alleged database’s size.
Why it matters
For Gamdom customers the risk is no longer just stolen crypto. It is whether gambling histories, emails & usernames end up exposed online. Neither the database’s scale nor the attackers’ claimed $1bn profit-value figure has been independently verified, & no ransom payment has been confirmed, so the exposure remains unresolved.
The record
| Ransom demand | $15m in bitcoin (Whitearmor) |
|---|---|
| Accounts allegedly held | 15,420,003 (Whitearmor claim, disputed by Gamdom) |
| Hot-wallet losses | over $3m acknowledged by founder Felix Römer, Oct 13 |
| Independent loss estimate | approx. $4.2m across networks (blockchain researcher vxdb) |
| Platform downtime | suspended Oct 13, resumed Oct 16 |
What happens next
Watch for whether Whitearmor publishes further data as proof, whether Gamdom issues a fresh customer notice, & whether any ransom payment is confirmed on-chain.
