Sporttrade wins federal nod to list sports contracts
Fliff will route customer orders to the exchange once approved, as Sporttrade abandons its old consumer betting model.
The hit
Sporttrade has won US Commodity Futures Trading Commission registrations to run both an exchange & a clearing house for sports event contracts, according to Yogonet. Sporttrade DCM LLC became a CFTC Designated Contract Market on 30 October 2026, with Sporttrade DCO LLC registered as a clearing organisation two weeks earlier.
Why it matters
The approvals put Sporttrade alongside ProphetX as another federally regulated venue for sports event contracts, built for brokers & institutions rather than retail punters directly. It lands as the CFTC has proposed rules classifying sports & other event contracts as swaps, while the sector’s legal footing remains unsettled.
The record
| Broker partner | Fliff to route customer orders pending approval |
|---|---|
| Rival venue | ProphetX designated by CFTC in June 2026 |
What happens next
No launch date yet. Watch for Sporttrade’s phased rollout with flow & liquidity providers, plus the Supreme Court’s decision on whether to hear New Jersey’s case against Kalshi.
