Rachit Bhatia admits Rs 3 crore IPL leak to London bookies
The former Ranji cricketer also admitted to spot-fixing two wide balls for Rs 16 lakh in 2018-19.
The hit
Rachit Bhatia, a former Ranji Trophy player, told an undercover Tehelka reporter he fed Chennai Super Kings’ playing XI to London bookmakers via Snapchat for five IPL 2025 matches, earning Rs 60 lakh a game. The player who allegedly supplied that information was not named in Tehelka’s original report, but journalist Pratyush Halder later identified him on X as Vansh Bedi, a CSK wicketkeeper. Bhatia also admitted bowling two deliberate wides for Rs 16 lakh in 2018-19.
Why it matters
For bettors, it shows domestic & franchise data can reach international books minutes after the toss, undermining odds integrity. The alleged Bhatia network shows encrypted apps like Snapchat can still outpace BCCI enforcement efforts.
The record
| DPL leak rate | Rs 40 lakh per match, Bhatia reportedly claimed 100% accuracy (Tehelka) |
|---|---|
| Broadcast risk | Delhi Premier League matches shown live on Star Sports, enabling in-play betting |
| BCCI ACSU expansion | Extended to all state T20 leagues in August 2026 (BCCI) |
| TNPL phone breach | Player fined Rs 1 lakh & banned after phone found in restricted zone |
| Bedi’s IPL deal | Chennai Super Kings signed Vansh Bedi for Rs 55 lakh at the 2025 auction |
What happens next
BCCI has issued no official response. Watch whether its Anti-Corruption Unit opens a formal probe into Bhatia & Bedi before the next IPL auction cycle.
