LeBron James sends cease & desist to Bron-AI betting app

Published: 1 min read
An empty basketball arena court lit at dusk with no people or signage visible.

James already has an exclusive endorsement deal with prediction market Polymarket.

The hit

LeBron James has sent a cease & desist letter to AI-powered betting app Bron-AI, a spokesperson for James told Front Office Sports. The app’s promotional video features an AI character using James’s name, voice & number 23 jersey without authorisation, James’s representatives say.

Why it matters

His representatives argue the Bron-AI advert wrongly suggests he backs basketball betting, which they say could breach NBA rules. For bettors, it is a reminder that AI-branded betting tools may borrow star names without any real link to the athlete.

The record

Platform accused Bron-AI, an AI-powered sports betting app (Front Office Sports)
Alleged breach Unauthorised use of James’s name, voice & likeness (James’s representatives)
Law firm sending letter Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks PC
Demand made Bron-AI told to stop use & notify all users in writing
James’s existing deal Exclusive endorsement agreement with Polymarket

What happens next

Watch for Bron-AI’s response to the cease & desist letter.
