Denmark’s regulator opens fake ‘Casino Kids’ shopfronts
The campaign lands the same month Denmark re-tabled its gambling advertising bill.
The hit
Denmark’s gambling regulator has dressed up shopfronts in 3 cities to look like a new casino called ‘Casino Kids’ is opening. Spillemyndigheden says the stunt is part of a campaign warning parents that children’s video games can contain gambling-style mechanics.
Why it matters
Denmark’s campaign targets parents, warning them to look at what their children are actually playing, not just their screen time, according to the regulator. Sweden’s regulator flagged similar concerns, finding more minors playing games with loot boxes & skin gambling.
The record
| Campaign launch | 26 October 2026 (Spillemyndigheden) |
|---|---|
| Fake ‘Casino Kids’ shopfronts | Aarhus, Odense & Copenhagen (Spillemyndigheden) |
| Live-sport gambling ad ban | Takes effect 1 July 2027 |
| Sweden’s loot box warning | January 2025 report by Spelinspektionen |
What happens next
Denmark is separately moving to restrict gambling ads around live sport, through a bill tabled 7 October 2026 by taxation minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt that returns to parliament after lapsing when Denmark held a general election in March 2026.
