Two men were held on suspicion of immigration offences, one on suspicion of money laundering & breaching the Gambling Act, & one on suspicion of licensing offences tied to an unlicensed late-night takeaway. Officers seized over £20,000, plus phones & gambling equipment.

Why it matters

The operation shows police, the Gambling Commission & Manchester City Council acting jointly on intelligence gathered after a similar operation in May. Sue Young, Gambling Commission Executive Director of Operations, says unlicensed operators often have links to wider criminality, exploit vulnerable people & undermine regulated businesses.
