Sportsbooks pour $21.7m into Nebraska betting vote
Kalshi puts each ballot measure at around 68-69% to pass.
The hit
Nebraska’s campaign to legalise online sports betting has pulled in almost $21.7 million, with more than $7 million arriving since 29 September, according to campaign finance disclosures. FanDuel & DraftKings have each contributed nearly $10.3 million, with Fanatics at $600,000 & BetMGM at $500,000. Voters decide on 3 November.
Why it matters
A yes vote on both initiatives would let up to 12 mobile sportsbooks operate in Nebraska, with FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM & Fanatics named as likely applicants, & Caesars, bet365 & theScore Bet also possible. A 20% tax on gross gaming revenue would apply, & bettors would have to be physically in the state to place wagers. Betting on Nebraska college teams playing in the state would stay banned. Opposition reportedly comes from religious organisations & groups concerned about gambling-related harm, while supporters point to tax revenue & property tax relief.
