PadBets Power Rating: how to read the number
Last reviewed · Editorial policy
PadBets Power Rating is a score built from recorded match results & the strength of opposing pairs. It is a rating-point number, not a percentage chance of winning.
Read a real rating row
The official Power Rating table showed these two rows on 7 September 2026 at 14:28 UTC. This is a dated snapshot; the live figures can change.
| Player | Rating | Played | Won | Win rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alejandro Galan | 2,222 | 365 | 313 | 86% |
| Arturo Coello | 2,214 | 388 | 342 | 88% |
Galan was eight rating points above Coello: 2,222 − 2,214 = 8. That does not mean an eight-percentage-point advantage in a future match. The table also shows why rating order need not match win-rate order: Coello had the higher displayed win rate.
For Galan, 313 ÷ 365 × 100 = about 85.75%, displayed as 86%. That percentage describes his recorded wins. The 2,222 rating is a separate measure.
What moves the rating?
PadBets describes an Elo-style approach. Players start level; each pair’s strength averages its two players. Beating a stronger pair moves a rating more than beating a weaker one. Losing to a weaker pair costs more than losing to a stronger one.
The public explanation does not specify the numerical starting score, update weights or a formula for converting a point gap into a win probability. Do not assume those details from another Elo system.
What does the match count add?
Eight wins from ten matches & 80 from 100 both give an 80% win rate. The second rests on ten times as many results. Check the opponents & partners as well as the count: wins against different fields are not interchangeable.
The table includes the top 100 rated players with at least five recorded matches. Sorting a column rearranges those hundred; it does not search every player in the archive.
Keep it separate from the FIP ranking
The official FIP ranking awards tournament points. Power Rating accounts for opponents in recorded results. Use both with recent matches, partnerships & event conditions. Neither number alone establishes today’s fitness or the next result.
