Nevada moves to strike NCPG from gaming regs over Kalshi cash
NCPG’s split with state regulators & its director’s resignation have followed its Kalshi tie-up.
The hit
Nevada gaming regulators have granted initial approval to strip the National Council on Problem Gambling from state regulation 5.170(2), according to CDC Gaming. The move follows the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling’s split from NCPG about two months ago over NCPG’s $2m partnership with Kalshi. The revised rule would point Nevada residents to state-specific help resources instead.
Why it matters
NGCB Chair Mike Dreitzer said the NCPG reference should be struck “given recent activities there”. NGCB’s Cahn Lengsavath said the update would direct people to “Nevada-specific information for referral sources”.
The record
| NCPG departures in protest | Nevada Council on Problem Gambling, Michigan Gaming Control Board, Ohio Casino Control Commission, Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling (CDC Gaming) |
|---|---|
| NCPG executive director resignation | Heather Maurer quit late September (CDC Gaming) |
| Nevada board approval date | Workshop vote Wednesday (CDC Gaming) |
What happens next
The Nevada Gaming Commission considers the full 12-page rule package, including the NCPG removal, on 22 October.
