Informa buys ICE owner Clarion for $2.97bn
The deal hands Informa control of WorldGaming, Clarion’s gaming events arm.
The hit
Informa has agreed to buy Clarion Events, the company behind the ICE gaming tradeshow, for £2.24bn ($2.97bn), according to GamblingNews. The deal, struck with owner Blackstone, hands Informa Clarion’s WorldGaming arm, which also runs iGB events & the Indian Gaming Tradeshow. Clarion says its business will continue as usual.
Why it matters
Clarion’s chief executive Lisa Hannat called the deal a testament to the quality of its business, brands & people. Clarion’s chief executive Stephen Carter said the acquisition is expected to bolster Informa’s long-term strategy. Blackstone’s global co-CIO Lionel Assant said he believes Informa & Clarion are a perfect fit.
