Florida AG demands Google, Meta, TikTok drop casino ads
The letters follow August lawsuits against Stake & VGW that also name their payment processors as defendants.
The hit
Florida attorney general James Uthmeier has written to Google, Meta, Reddit, Snap & TikTok demanding they stop advertising sweepstakes casinos to state residents. The letters, sent 24 September, warn that promoting illegal gambling is a crime under Florida law & give the platforms until 23 October to explain in writing what steps they have taken.
Why it matters
The move goes after the ad channels sweepstakes operators rely on to reach players, not just the operators themselves. If platforms comply, Florida could choke off a major marketing route for brands that have leaned heavily on social media & influencer promotion to build their user base.
