Altenar accuses Sportradar of restricting rival data access
Altenar says Sportradar’s grip on official live sports data shuts out rival suppliers.
The hit
Sportsbook software firm Altenar Technologies has filed antitrust complaints with EU & UK regulators against Sportradar, according to Reuters. Altenar accuses Sportradar of restricting rivals’ access to official live sports data & betting odds through its exclusive deals with sports bodies including the NBA, MLB, NHL & ATP.
Why it matters
Altenar says Sportradar’s control of key data sources puts rival suppliers at a disadvantage. The company says bookmakers across Europe & Britain need access to alternative providers. Sportradar calls the complaint unnecessary & largely a reiteration of existing commercial disputes, & says it has an obligation to comply with competition laws in any market it operates in.
The record
| Complaints filed | 14 October |
|---|---|
| Maximum EU fine if violations found | 10% of Sportradar’s global annual turnover (EU competition rules) |
| Prior US lawsuit | March 2026 (Altenar v Sportradar, US court) |
What happens next
Watch for the European Commission’s decision on whether to open a formal probe, & whether the UK’s Competition & Markets Authority grants Altenar’s request for interim data access.
