PadBets Power Rating: What It Measures & How to Read It
The official ranking rewards tournament results with ranking points. The PadBets Power Rating asks a different question: based on the results held by PadBets, who has been beating the strongest opposition?
One sport, two different questions
Official FIP rankings matter. They determine standing through points earned in eligible competitions. A deep tournament run can add points. Playing more events creates more opportunities to earn them. The ranking is an official competition system, not a pure prediction of the next match.
The PadBets Power Rating is an unofficial analytical layer. PadBets says every player starts level. Beating a strong pair produces a larger positive change than beating a weaker pair. Losing to a weaker pair costs more than losing to a strong pair. The strength of each pair is based on the two players together.

Moves after wins & losses, with the strength of the opposing pair affecting the size of the change.
How to read the table
The live table can be sorted by rating, matches played, matches won or win rate. PadBets excludes players with fewer than five recorded matches. That threshold cannot make a small sample reliable, but it avoids presenting a rating built from only one or two results as if it were settled evidence.
The most useful signal is not the exact number in isolation. It is the relationship between rating, volume & win rate. A player with a high rating across hundreds of recorded matches presents a different evidence base from a fast-rising player with a much smaller sample.
Current positions should always be dated. Ratings change as new results enter the system. The table InfoBets checked on 3 September 2026 is not a permanent ranking.
Where disagreement becomes interesting
PadBets says the two systems can diverge when a player competes rarely but performs well, or competes often against weaker fields. Pair changes matter too. Padel is a doubles sport. An individual rating is being inferred from results produced with partners & against opposing pairs.
A disagreement does not prove that one list is wrong. It tells the reader that the lists are measuring different things. That can prompt better questions about recent opposition, partner quality, tournament level & sample size.
What the rating does not know
- Unrecorded matches: a model can only learn from the results in its database.
- Injury & fitness: a historical rating does not automatically know a player’s current condition.
- Changing partnerships: the same player can perform differently with another partner.
- Match context: travel, court conditions, format & motivation are not fully expressed by a result.
- Model detail: PadBets explains the concept publicly, but the full formula & validation record are not published on the page we reviewed.
It is context, not a forecast
A rating can be useful without becoming a betting instruction. It can show that a familiar name has a weaker results profile than its official position suggests, or that a lower-ranked player has repeatedly beaten strong opposition. It cannot guarantee that the pattern continues in the next match.
The responsible way to use the tool is alongside the underlying record. Open the player profile. Check recent opponents. Look at the number of recorded matches. Inspect head-to-head history where it exists. Do not turn one number into certainty.
The disagreement is the feature.
PadBets is not improved by pretending its rating replaces the official ranking. Its value comes from placing a second, clearly labelled measurement beside the official one & letting readers inspect why they differ.
