Encore Boston Harbor’s $46.1m take is its worst since Feb 2021
Massachusetts’ 25% cut of casino revenue also took a hit.
The hit
Encore Boston Harbor’s gross gaming revenue fell to $46,064,209 in September, a 22% drop from a year earlier & the casino’s lowest monthly take since February 2021, according to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. The slump lands on day 47 of a strike by 1,300 Unite Here Local 26 & Teamsters Local 25 members outside the $2.6bn resort.
Why it matters
Loose slots, paying out at 92.41%, their highest rate since January 2020, weren’t enough to pull players back through the doors. The unions continue to urge the public not to cross the picket line. Wynn says it has offered a fair contract & is bargaining in good faith, warning extra overhead risks jobs.
The record
| Slot handle | $354.4m, down from $444.4m a year earlier (MGC) |
|---|---|
| Table game revenue | below $19.2m, lowest since February 2021 (MGC) |
| State’s cut | $11.5m, Massachusetts’ 25% share of GGR (MGC) |
| Union demand | $10/hour rise over four years, $25 minimum start (Unite Here & Teamsters) |
What happens next
Contract talks between Wynn Resorts & the unions continue. Watch October’s MGC revenue disclosure for whether the strike-driven slump deepens or eases.
