Flutter weighs up to 1,400 job cuts across UK & Ireland
UK tax hikes could cost Flutter 16% of its UK & Ireland workforce.
The hit
Flutter Entertainment is reportedly considering cutting up to 1,400 jobs from its UK & Ireland business, according to GamblingNews. The cuts would hit staff in the UK, Ireland, Portugal, Romania & Malta, & could amount to 16% of the division’s 9,000-strong workforce.
Why it matters
Flutter CEO Kevin Harrington cited UK tax hikes as the reason for reducing costs, saying the company “cannot fully absorb a rise of this magnitude” without cuts. Harrington said Flutter remains confident it can still gain market share, citing its position as “the largest scale operator in the UK”.
