Bryn Kenney sues GGPoker’s Kim for tens of millions
Kenney claims he once earned $5m a year in commissions before GGPoker allegedly slashed his cut.
The hit
Poker star Bryn Kenney is suing GGPoker’s parent companies & CEO Mansoo ‘Michael’ Kim for tens of millions of dollars, according to a first amended complaint filed Wednesday in federal court in Nevada. Kenney alleges Kim reneged on 2018 deals promising him recruitment commissions & 5% equity, & separately covered up cheating on the platform while blaming Kenney for it.
Why it matters
If Kenney’s claims hold up, it raises questions over how GGPoker, now the world’s biggest online poker site, handled both its commission structure for top recruiters & alleged cheating complaints. A ruling against Kim could expose the company to further claims from other recruiters or players over commission-tracking & security practices.
The record
| Commissions earned | ~$5m in 2019 (Kenney’s complaint) |
|---|---|
| Commission decline | down more than $3m a year by 2025 vs 2019 (Kenney’s complaint) |
| Equity claimed | 5% of GGPoker promised in 2018, never transferred (Kenney’s complaint) |
| WSOP acquisition cited | $500m paid by NSUS Group for World Series of Poker, 2024 (Kenney’s complaint) |
| Players’ winnings covered | $1m paid personally by Kenney after Kim allegedly fell short on a $6m payout |
| Next hearing | November 12, on Kim’s motion to dismiss |
What happens next
A hearing on Kim’s motion to dismiss is set for November 12 in Nevada federal court. None of Kenney’s allegations has been proven.
